Susan Szenes: Susan Szenes street art "pops" as an artist. Susan Szenes is a self-taught artist, inspired by her early passions for comics, tinkering and music. This led to her high school experiments with old-school style cut and paste zines. Leaving her former career in graphic design she has never turned back. Szenes creates montages incorporating found objects as integral elements in her building process. Sometimes the grittier qualities build character and narratives for a piece. Susan's iconic images deals with urban issues along with the ever present consumable desires of our American culture. The tension in a finished work is purposeful expressing the duality of peoples lives. Susan has progressed with exhibitions in New York, San Francisco, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax and Toronto. Szenes' artwork is featured on the cover of Coach House Books, "Utopia: State of the Arts". Susan's work is held in the collections of the City of Toronto, Paul Martin former Prime Minister of Canada, and Toronto Pearson International Airport.
